UNIDA Gontor Communication Science Strengthens Global Academic Network Through ASPIKOM–ACWA International Collaboration

UNIDA Gontor – The Communication Studies Program of the Faculty of Humanities at Universitas Darussalam Gontor participated in an international collaboration agenda initiated through the partnership between ASPIKOM and the Association for Collaboration in Worldwide Academia (ACWA). The program marked its commitment to expanding global academic cooperation through an international Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) forum involving universities from various countries.

The delegation from the Communication Studies Program of UNIDA Gontor was represented by Tubagus Novalul Barokah, S.I.Kom., M.Med.Kom Secretary of the Communication Studies Program, Nurhana Marantika, M.A, Veri Setiawan, Spd., M.I.Kom and Rifki Aulia, M.I.Kom. Their participation reflected the program’s active involvement in strengthening international academic cooperation and institutional networking.

The event was attended by several prominent representatives from ACWA, including Dr. Sukhrob Babaev as President of ACWA, Dr. Poppy Febriana as Vice President of ACWA, and Dr. Romdhi Fatkhur Rozi as Secretary General. Their presence reflected the growing commitment to strengthening international academic partnerships between Indonesian universities and global institutions.

During the forum, Dr. Sukhrob Babaev delivered a presentation regarding international collaboration programs initiated by ACWA. The presentation emphasized opportunities for strategic cooperation in the fields of education and tourism, particularly in developing globally connected academic ecosystems and cross-border institutional partnerships.

The discussion on the technical implementation of collaboration between Indonesian universities and ACWA was further presented by Sobirov Bobur, Advisory Board of ACWA. The session elaborated on the execution mechanisms of the MoU through various collaborative programs, including student and faculty exchange, visiting scholar programs, virtual and hybrid academic engagement, international conferences, forums and webinars, as well as international workshops and academic training activities.

The MoU signing ceremony involved participation from ten international universities, namely Buxoro Innovatsion Ta’lim va Tibbiyot Universiteti, Asia International University, Esil University, Kokand State University, Samarkand Branch of Tashkent State University of Economics, Silk Road International University, Samarkand International University of Technology, Washington University of Science and Technology, and Zarmed University.

The direct signing session was officially conducted by representatives from Association for Collaboration in Worldwide Academia (ACWA), Buxoro Innovatsion Ta’lim va Tibbiyot Universitesi, and Samarkand Branch of Tashkent State University of Economics, represented by Dr. Sukhrob Babaev and Sobirov Bobur.

Through this international collaboration initiative, the Communication Studies Program of UNIDA Gontor is expected to further expand its global academic engagement and strengthen opportunities for international cooperation in education, research, and community empowerment at the global level. And this is for the effort of the University of Darussalam Gontor to become one of the best Islamic universities.
