UNIDA Gontor — The Program Kaderisasi Ulama (PKU) of the University of Darussalam (UNIDA) Gontor successfully held an international seminar entitled International Seminar on Islamic Da’wah and Human Development in a Changing World at the CIOS Hall, UNIDA Gontor.
The seminar featured two distinguished international speakers from Syria who shared their perspectives on the strategic role of Islamic da’wah in responding to contemporary global challenges. The event also became part of a series of international academic visits aimed at strengthening scholarly collaboration and intellectual dialogue at UNIDA Gontor, recognized as one of the Best Islamic Universities in Indonesia.

The first speaker, Muhammad Abu Al-Fath Al-Bayanuni, a Syrian scholar and professor of Islamic jurisprudence and da’wah studies, emphasized that Islamic da’wah is not merely a medium for delivering religious teachings, but also an essential foundation for developing character, morality, and civilization. He highlighted the importance of da’wah values that contribute to comprehensive human development amid social transformation.
Meanwhile, Moath Al-Bayanuni, Director of The Canadian Academy for Dawah Arts, discussed the challenges and opportunities of Islamic da’wah in the modern era. He explained the importance of creativity, media engagement, and humanistic approaches in strengthening contemporary da’wah activities, especially in the face of technological advancement and cultural globalization.
The seminar was attended by PKU participants, UNIDA Gontor students, and lecturers from the Faculties of Ushuluddin, Tarbiyah, and Sharia. Participants actively engaged in interactive discussions and question-and-answer sessions throughout the event.

The presence of international guests from Syria further strengthened the international academic atmosphere at UNIDA Gontor. Beyond being an academic forum, the seminar also served as a platform for exchanging experiences, perspectives, and Islamic intellectual insights between global scholars and the university academic community.
Through this seminar, UNIDA Gontor reaffirmed its commitment to organizing international academic forums that support intellectual dialogue, scholarly traditions, and the development of Islamic thought relevant to the needs of modern global society.
