Welcome to the Department of English Language Teaching (Tadris Bahasa Inggris), Faculty of Tarbiyah, University of Darussalam Gontor (UNIDA Gontor).
Our department is committed to develop an integrative model of education that combines modern knowledge with Islamic values. Guided by our vision: To develop English education and language teaching based on the Islamization of knowledge and pesantren values, with a strong focus on methodology and technology in language teaching, in order to produce professional graduates capable of competing globally, we aim to nurture educators who are not only competent in their field, but also possess strong moral character and global insight.
The strength of our program lies in the integration of effective language teaching methodologies, advanced educational technologies, and the deep-rooted spiritual traditions of the pesantren. Our learning environment is carefully designed to support academic excellence, personal development, and character building.
We also strengthen our students’ academic and personal growth through various flagship programs, such as the annual inbound study (SPL) abroad, technology-based teaching workshops, student research activities, and a student exchange program at the Universidad of Córdoba, Spain. These initiatives offer valuable international exposure and help equip our students with a competitive edge on both national and global stages.

Why do a English Language Teaching at UNIDA Gontor
Islamisation of knowledge
To contribute directly to the advancement of science, arts and technology through research and development within the Islamisation of knowledge framework that places the Islamic Aqidah as the basis for scientific culture and tradition.
Academic excellence
To offer a doctoral degree that emphasises excellence, honesty, integrity and academic authority in a relligious atmosphere within the pesantren tradition.
Scientific development
To provide an intellectual home where scholars and professionals from around the globe research and teach in light of the Islamic Aqidah as the foundation of scientific development and live in accordance with the Islamic principles and values.
Building an Islamic polity
To conduct programs of education and research related to community development, informed by the Pesantren wisdom values, and aimed at building an Islamic polity and solving the Muslim community problems.
