UNIDA Gontor and UTHM delegates in a partnership discussion at the Rectorate Meeting Room

UNIDA Gontor – Universitas Darussalam (UNIDA) Gontor welcomed an academic delegation from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) on tuesday, july 15, 2025, in a return visit aimed at deepening institutional collaboration and exploring avenues for broader academic partnerships. The meeting took place at the Rectorate Meeting Room, Main Building of UNIDA Gontor, from 08:30 to 11:30 WIB.

The UTHM delegation was led by Dr. Lutfan Jaes, Dean of the Centre for General Studies and Curriculum (PPUK), and included Dr. Siti Marpuah, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Islamic Education at PPUK, along with four other academic representatives. They were warmly received by UNIDA Gontor’s Vice Rector III, Dr. Khoirul Umam, M.Ec., together with Vice Deans for Student Affairs from multiple faculties.

In this strategic dialogue, both institutions expressed a shared commitment to initiating collaborative academic programs, with a strong emphasis on postgraduate studies such as Master’s and Doctoral programs in the fields of literature, humanities, and social sciences. The proposed areas of collaboration include joint research projects, co-authored academic publications in reputable journals, co-supervision of theses and dissertations, as well as external examination roles.

This initiative represents a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts of UNIDA Gontor to strengthen its international academic reputation as a Top Islamic University in Indonesia. UTHM representatives also noted the strong alignment between the institutions’ values and academic visions, particularly in fostering interdisciplinary Islamic scholarship.

Both sides agreed to develop a structured framework to implement these collaborative efforts in a sustainable and impactful manner. The meeting concluded with mutual optimism and a commitment to turning ideas into action through concrete academic programs.

This partnership is expected to reinforce UNIDA Gontor’s global academic network and further its aspiration to be recognized as a Top Islamic University contributing meaningfully to higher education across Southeast Asia and beyond.
