UNIDA Gontor – On Friday morning, May 10, 2024, the 2023 batch of students of Universitas Darussalam (UNIDA) Gontor handed over a waqf in the form of a 1400cc Tata Super Ace pickup car. This waqf is a form of gratitude for the completion of the mandatory one-year service period at UNIDA Gontor. The handover ceremony was held after the morning exercise, attended by all students and senior lecturers.
UNIDA Gontor’s Vice Rector III, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khoirul Umam, M.Ec., officially received the waqf on behalf of the campus. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of maintaining the waqf tradition in Gontor. “This is a good tradition that must be maintained. Gontor can develop and survive until almost a century because this pesantren has been endowed for Muslims,” he said.
Dr. Khoirul Umam also emphasized that this tradition of giving, charity, and sharing is one of the keys to the progress of Muslims. Waqf not only benefits the campus and its students, but also becomes a jariyah charity whose rewards continue to flow to the waqf giver.
The waqf handover ceremony was authorized by symbolically cutting the red ribbon by the Vice Rector III, witnessed by senior lecturers and all students. The handover of this vehicle is expected to benefit campus activities and student logistics needs.
In addition, this pickup truck is also expected to facilitate various activities at UNIDA Gontor and be used for the benefit of students. All 2023 students hope that this waqf will be a useful charity and blessing for them.
This waqf tradition reflects the values of sharing and social responsibility instilled in Gontor, and serves as a good example for the next generation of students.
