LOMBOK – University of Darussalam (UNIDA) Gontor distributed aid to earthquake victims in Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The assistance was in the form of tents, blankets, socks, towels, medicines, mineral water, babies needs and daily needs.
According to Khoirul Umam, one of the UNIDA staffs who helped in compiling data and funds, all the distribution of natural disaster aid was coordinated by UNIDA Gontor students by sending three volunteers namely Khaerul Akmal, Atharuddin, and M. Rizal Adlan to distribute aid from donors.
Khaerul Akmal who served as the Head of UNIDA Gontor Solidarity Volunteers for Lombok earthquake victims said that the provided assistance came from LAZISWAF, lecturers, students, DEMA, UNIDA staffs, NTB students, MENWA, and Lukmanul Hakim Study Forum.
The aid was distributed to five earthquake points: Gunung Sari District (Lendang Re), Pemenang District (Karang Pasor), Tanjung District (West, South and East Sire Village), Tanjung District (Tembobor Village), and Gondang District (Karang Kates).
The aid distribution was scheduled to last for two weeks since its departure on 14 August to 27 August 2018. “Distribute the assistance to reach remote areas in Lombok. Intend this act to be Lillahi Ta’ala. Hopefully, this assistance will ease the burden of our brothers who were affected by the earthquake,“ said Vice Rector III UNIDA Gontor Dr. Abdul Hafidz Zaid, MA when dispatching UNIDA Gontor volunteers to Lombok.
