Nutritional science is a branch of science that studies the relationship between the food consumed and the physical health as well as its influential factors. This branch of science is required due to the increasing problems arising from the epidemiological transition in the field of nutrition, the rapid growth of food industry, and the demands on quantity and quality of institution for the service of nutrition and food. The department was established with the vision to produce professional Bachelor of Nutrition with International reputations, who has scientific and practical ability to cope with double nutritional problems that occur both in Indonesia and other countries. Not only is this department educating professional on nutrition, but also aims at producing nutrition professionals who posses Islamic morality, high integrity on the development of nutritional science and technology.

Characteristics

The salient feature of this department is discernible from its focus on preparing competent graduates in the field of nutrition, both nationally and internationally who have a great attention on the study of halal food. Therefore, Islamic study is one of the most important subject in the curriculum of this department. In its attempt to gain international reputation this department collaborate with the University of Gadjah Mada, a well known state university in Indonesia, by which students could get the latest and the most advanced nutritional science.
