UNIDA Gontor – “We commemorate the 73rd Indonesia’s independence this morning to remember the merit of syuhada (Moslems heroes) as well as ulama, santri, and mujahidin who have fought for Indonesia’s independence,” said Vice Rector II of University Darussalam (UNIDA) Gontor, Dr. Setiawan Bin Lahuri, M.A. who served as the Ceremony Inspector in the ceremony (17/8).
The 73rd Indonesia’s Independence flag ceremony was held at 8 o’clock at the field in front of the Main Building. It was attended by all UNIDA Gontor academicians. As mentioned earlier, serving as the Ceremony Inspector was Vice Rector II of UNIDA Gontor Dr. Setiawan Bin Lahuri, M.A. Meanwhile, serving as the red and white heirloom flag raisers are troops of UNIDA Student Regiments (MENWA).
In his speech, Dr. Setiawan said that there were dozens of national pillars in Gontor. Therefore, we learn diversity and hubul wathon to fight for the independence for Indonesian citizens and the nation.
“The most important thing is how to contribute to this independence as what the founding fathers of the nation have done. How glorious and noble the soldiers and the founding fathers of this nation were! Now, our duty as an academic community at UNIDA Gontor is to contribute to this independence in the area of education. In the 73rd Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, we must reflect on ourselves to what extent we should contribute to the independence, and to what extent we should contribute to Indonesian education,” said Dr. Setiawan.
He added, “We focus on developing education in Indonesia. By having this ceremony, it is expected to serve as a reminder for us about the importance of education in contributing to Indonesia’s independence. Gontor which has been established long before Indonesia’s independence has contributed to pesantren education system in Indonesia.
