BI: UNIDA Gontor, One of the Best Private Universities in Indonesia

UNIDA Gontor – “After paying attention to both the staffs’ explanations and students’ answers as well as the dormitory system which forms a balance between academic and non-academic activities, I believe that UNIDA Gontor is one of the best private universities in Indonesia,” Dr. Abdurrahman who served as the secretary of Bank Indonesia (BI), the central bank of the Republic of Indonesia, said in his visit to conduct assessment on BI Scholarship at UNIDA Gontor, Friday (21/9).

The visit was the third assessment of that day after IAIN Kediri and IAIN Ponorogo. At the event, there were representatives from each institution, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, several Heads of Study Programs, representatives from Student Council, as well as Students’ Extracurricular Units at UNIDA Gontor, to name a few.

First of all, the event was opened by Al-Ustadz Khoirul Umam, M.Ec. and continued with remarks from Al-Ustadz Dr H. Mulyono Jamal, M.A. Deputy Head of Board of Trustees.

Dr. Abdurraman in his presentation said that the BI Scholarship previously was only for State Universities. Currently in 2018, In addition to 97 state universities, BI also provides scholarships for 5 private universities.

BI Scholarships is a social programme by BI which is believed to be different from other social programs in a way that it invests in human resources for the future of Indonesia.

BI has two scholarship schemes, namely superior and regular schemes. The superior scheme is for PTN which are the top 10 best universities and regular scheme for other universities. The difference lines on the total of beneficiary for each scholarship and the number of received scholarships.

During the assessment, BI wanted to know the vision and mission as well as the university development programs in the next 3 years, accreditation of the university and study programs, academic services such as tuition fees, and the availability of non-academic facilities.

After the assessment, UNIDA hopes to be one of 5 PTS to receive the BI scholarships offering scholarships for 50 students each year. [Iqbal / Trans. Eka / Ed. Nurrahma, Taufiq]
